For the Repeal of DOMA:

"I am not naive enough to think that any verdict of your court will change the opinions or hearts of the individuals we encounter on a daily basis.  I accept that the stares our family receives walking down the street on a daily basis elicits both judgment and inspiration.  What I do not accept is that the United States of America is willing to devalue my childrens’ family more than others and have a separate grouping of laws and benefits.  I pray that as you rule on these cases that you keep Cardel (6), Raine (4), and Ravyn (3) in your hearts and do all in your power to keep deleterious obstacles from their lives." -Jack Montgomery

"The two most precious things in my life are Diana and our daughter, Gabriella. I feel like there's nothing I can do. There's no legal remedy. There's nothing to fix it because the government won't recognize who Diana is to us." -Ariana

"There seems to be a contradiction between serving my country and my country not fully supporting my relationship with Ben. Ours is not the type of military family that things happen easily for. The law [DOMA] prohibits the government from providing the same benefits to me and my soon-to-be husband as it would to me if I was marrying a woman." -Marine Captain Matthew Phelps

"Shannon and I are in love, we have two beautiful children, we have a lovely home, and a supportive community, a family that's close by that loves us. We have everything that you could want and the only thing that's standing in the way is DOMA." -Casey McLaughlin

Against the Repeal of DOMA:

"A mom and a dad each give separarte, distinct and irreplaceable gifts in parenting and the institution of marriage seeks to ensure as many children as possible can receive those gifts. This is the timeless truth that DOMA defends." -Alliance Defending Freedom

"DOMA does not force states to accept the federal definition of marriage. That would indeed run afoul of federalism principles. But it does prevent any single state from forcing its definition on the federal government (Section 3), or on any other state (Section 2). That allows each state to chart its own path, as federalism requires, but it does not allow any state to chart a path for the rest of the country. That is federalism as it should be." -John Eastman, National Organization for Marriage Board Chairman
