UPDATE: DOMA was officially ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of the United States on Wednesday, June 26. All same-sex couples that are legally married in their home states are now recognized in the eyes of the federal government and can apply for federal benefits. Prop 8 was dismissed by SCOTUS on grounds proponents lack standing; marry equality returns to California.
